Red Sox Manager Hunt Turns to Bobby V

We all know that Bobby Valentine would give his right arm to manage in the majors again. Especially if the price is right. So what better organization to manage for then the Boston Red Sox?

After the Red Sox made the decision yesterday to part ways with the man who brought them two championships with one breaking the Curse of the Bambino, might add Bobby V to the list of managerial candidates. At least the Boston Globe thinks they should. Who could blame them?

It has been said that Terry Francona had no control in the clubhouse. No bueno if you are a manager. You need to have control. I can assure you, that would not be a problem for good ol’ Bobby V. Red Sox Nation would certainly love his brash ways. It would be a match made in heaven. At least I would think so.

Players like John Lackey would certainly know their place. Carl Crawford would definitely put up or shut up. All players would fear, or at the very least respect even if they hate him, the V.

Mets fans would love to have Bobby V back. It will never happen though. Terry Collins did a good enough job with this team to the point where his option for 2013 was picked up. He is not going anywhere.

I wonder if the Red Sox would be interested in Wally Backman. There’s a clash if I ever saw one. The front office would hate him, but the fans would love him.

My opinion is Francona got a raw deal. He helped to end the curse. He did what he could. It isn’t his fault he got handed a bunch of whiny prima donnas who cannot handle being told to do their job. While it appears as though it was Francona’s decision to leave, the front office should have done whatever it took to keep him. He was great in Boston. I wish him all the best.

Bobby Valentine Directs Traffic In CT

Posted in General, Media with tags , , , , on January 27, 2011 by Tanya Mercado

It seems Bobby Valentine is a man of many talents. He played baseball. He managed various baseball teams. He is a bartender, or rather he soon will be. Now he is a traffic cop. At least he was at 3am this morning in Stamford, CT.

Sam Ryan at CBS NY tweeted:

Former Mets mgr Bobby Valentine was out directing traffic in Stamford, Ct this morning ..helping out in the storm!

Nice of him to help out in the snowstorm that has resulted in some of us not being able to get to work this morning. However, it was not so nice if you were on I-95 heading to CT. You would have been stuck out there for three to four hours. What did our beloved former manager have to say about it?

This has been a problem since early this morning. We don’t have enough men to close this ramp and try to get people to understand what they’re doing.

You’re a good man Bobby V. We miss you. Bobby V was named as Stamford’s Public Health and Safety Director earlier this year by Mayor Michael Pavia. So if you’re wondering what Bobby V is doing now that he is not managing, now you know. He is taking this job as a “very exciting challenge in my life”.

Another Lost Season

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on October 1, 2010 by zieleappeal

Today I find myself thinking sadly about the fast approaching end of the 2010 season. (No baseball to watch makes me sad.) I have been thinking about the last few weeks that have had Mets fans agreeing that change must take place, but disagreeing about what that changes should look like.

So, I sit here in weird anticipation of Oct 4th….the day after the end of the season.

I will be at the last three games of the season as I have done for the last ten years. 1999 was the first year that I had done that. So I have been through the last week of seasons that were fun and heartwarming while others have down right SUCKED.

I have watched Bobby V, Art Howe, Willie Randolph and now Jerry Manual as each was in the last days of what was originally a promising career. Instead, for them , it turned out to be a walk into the abyss. A walk that was most times not solely because of their own actions.

Bobby V had Steve Phillips, a disaster that Bobby could never overcome. Art Howe had… well …Art Howe. Nice guy and all but he was compared to a character from “Weekend at Bernies” and I am sure you know which one. Then there was Willie…an ex yankee- which in this town gave him a major disadvantage right from the start. But he surprised us as he ALMOST lead us into the promised land. (Thanks Carlos).

Now we have Jerry. And he has had constant adversity to contend with…ie..injuries, Minaya, Wilpons, etc.
Change is needed again. The bottom line is that they (The NY Mets) have the ABILITY to get the talent and the ABILITY to manage the talent.

SO what the hell are they doing wrong? As with any company it all starts at the TOP. All of the responsibility begins at the TOP.

So here it is, almost October 4th and we as Mets Fans look to the TOP. We need some MAJOR IMPACTFUL CHANGES.
CHANGES that will lead to MAJOR IMPACTFUL METS BASEBALL. We have the ABILITY, so show us that you care. Make those changes and make them MAJOR. Those at the TOP owe it to us Mets Fans.
